30 Day Shred – results and reflections

I’ve done it – I’ve finished my 30 Day Shred. It’s actually taken me 43 days to get here with rest days for niggles taken into account – but I know I did the right thing and avoided an actual injury by taking the odd day off so I’m happy with that.

So, what changes have I seen? Well firstly, I have really enjoyed it – getting out of bed at 6.30am to work out with Jillian now seems like part of my routine. I definitely find it easier to incorporate into my day my doing it first thing, although my performance is better when I’ve had chance to wake up a bit.

Secondly – I have muscles where I’ve not had them for a long time. I have guns!

And my wobbly bits under my arms are much less wobbly – I can feel my triceps for the first time in a long time. My quads are much more defined than they were and my legs are getting back the muscle tone that they had when I was marathon training.

Thirdly, and the part that people will probably be most interested in – inch loss. In the past 43 days I have lost:

  • Half an inch off my chest
  • Half an inch off my waist (narrowest point)
  • An inch from around my belly button
  • An inch off my belly (widest part)
  • Half an inch off my thighs

I’m very very happy with those results for 20mins a day of exercise.

So, what next?

There are four weeks to go until our wedding anniversary and I really want to be able to fit into my pink dress by then.

This dress has been my Thinking Slimmer goal for quite some time now and it’s time to make it happen! Last time I tried it on it was too tight around the tummy area – this inch loss with my 30 day Shred will have helped with that for sure, but I’ve still got further to go.

So, I’ve decided that I’m going to move on to Jillian’s Six Week Six Pack

I’ve read a few reviews and people have said that it’s a step up from 30 Day Shred. I did Level 1 for the first time this morning and they weren’t wrong. I really enjoyed it – a great mix of core work with cardio to help ‘melt the fat away’ as Jillian says so I’m looking forward to seeing what results I achieve with this over the next few weeks.

Pink dress here I come!

  1. Congratulations on the awesome results and good luck with the next sets of workouts! I`d love to read on on this journey of yours. And I`m sure you will look gorgeous in that dress!

    1. Ah, thank you. I am really pleased with the results and am looking forward to getting stuck into some more cardio and core work on the next set of workouts.

I actually tried the pink dress on today and it fits so much better than it did – I have four weeks to make sure that I look as good as I can do when I wear it.
