I’m now over a week into my new Jillian Michaels work out DVD – the Six Week Six-Pack.
Having completed the 30 Day Shred I wanted to continue working out with Jillian and since my stomach area is my biggest ‘problem’ area this seemed like a good DVD to pick.
Jillian recommends that you workout with this DVD at least 5 days a week. In my first week I managed to do it 4 times but also did 3 runs totally 10 miles so I hope that would make up for the 5th session!
So after my first week what are my first impressions?
Well in Jillian’s own words “this workout is no joke”. I thought I sweated a lot after a 20 minute shred session but that was nothing compared to how sweaty this workout is. There is a fast paced mix of cardio and core moves to not only tone up your core muscles but to ‘melt the fat’ away at the same time. There are are two levels – you start with Level 1 for 3 weeks and then work up to Level 2. In general the Level 1 moves are easy enough to master and individually wouldn’t be that tough. But add them all together at relentless pace and you’ve got one tough workout.
As in the 30 day shred Jillian has two helpers, one who does the beginner version of the moves, the other doing the advanced. I was pretty pleased to find that I can already do the advanced versions for at least half of the moves. Not a bad start. There are a couple of really tricky moves that I’m finding it hard to master but even after 4 sessions I can see an improvement in my technique.
The workout takes a bit longer than the shred to complete at around 35 mins once you include the warm up and down sections but it’s still very easy to fit into my day which is what I liked so much about the 30 Day Shred.
So – so far so good – let’s hope the results are as good as the 30 Day Shred. I’m not sure that it’s realistic to think I’ll achieve an actual six pack in six weeks but I hope that I’ll lose a few inches and get some more definition in my core area. I’ve got my measurements from when I finished the shred and I’ve taken some ‘before’ photos so that I can see the progress that I am making as well. If I’m feeling brave and the results are good I’ll share those and my ‘after’ photos at the end of my six weeks.
Well done! I’ve yet to try the 30 day shred but I have heard lots about it. Looking forward to gearing how you get on with this one!
