TLC sport high waist mesh detail slimming leggings

As you’ll know if you’ve been reading this blog for a while, I am Northampton’s Strongest Woman 2016! So when TLC sport got in touch, a Northampton based company run by mother and daughter Sara and Charlotte, and asked if I’d like to try out a pair of their slimming leggings I just had to say yes.

I’d not come across TLC before so was really quite pleasantly surprised when I started browsing their website. There’s a great range of pieces at really good value prices – I wondered how they’d not come to my attention before!

I was asked to pick a pair of leggings from the slimming range. This is how the range is described on the TLC website

Our gorgeous range of Slimming Sportswear Bottoms are the perfect option for those looking for a little confidence boost in the gym. Flattering cuts, non-shine fabrics and smooth seaming will all help you look slimmer and feel better! Made from our exclusive Figure Firming fabric, our slimming bottoms will make you look one size smaller.

To be honest, I don’t really care about looking one size smaller when I’m at the gym. But I do like a pair of leggings that holds everything in place – I can’t stand leggings that I have to hitch up or that I worry about slipping and exposing my midrift when I’m chucking weights over my head. I appreciate a high waist in a legging, I’m an apple shape and these tend to work better for me. So with that in mind I chose this pair of high waisted leggings with a mesh detail panel.

20161015_09045920161015_090528I was advised that these were going to be pretty tight so I ordered a large. They require a bit of effort to get on, but once they’re on they are really comfortable. The waist is very high indeed, it comes right up under the bottom of my bra. At first I thought this might be a bit too high but it’s actually perfect. I can feel the fabric tight against my skin, not in a restrictive way, but in a re-assuring, I’m not going anywhere, giving you a hug kind of way.

What you can’t see from these photos are the funky mesh panels that run on the ouside of the thigh and then from the knee down. They give these otherwise black leggings a bit of a twist that I really like.

I’ve worn these leggings a couple of times now. First for strongwoman training and then for my PT session. When I’m flipping tyres, chucking weights over my head and carrying heavy loads on my back how I look isn’t really top of my agenda. But I do like my leggings to stay in place and provide a decent amount of coverage – I don’t want to be concerned about showing my knickers to people when I’m squatting the equivalent of my own bodyweight!

These leggings tick all my boxes. I felt totally secure, they are definitely not see through and after a bit of hitching to get them on, no further adjustment was required. They were really comfortable and I got a couple of compliments about how sleek I looked in them too.

At £42 (currently on sale at £30) these are also great value for money. The quality seems great, better than some leggings which retail for twice this amount.

Overall I love these leggings and they’re going to become a regular feature in my lifting wardrobe. I’d love to see TLC make them in another colour or with a pattern.

Disclosure- I was sent these leggings for free in return for reviewing them and posting on social media. All opinions are my own.
