#blackouttuesday I know I will never fully understand. But I will listen, learn and stand with you.

[MOBILITY GAINS] Goblet squats three weeks apart. Trying to sit as deep as possible keeping my back as upright as I can. It's hard and my whole body is begging me to stand up and let it be over! But I can see the tiniest bit of progress between the two videos which is motivating. So I'll keep going. #mobility #strongwoman #strength #lockdown2020

[SKWAAATS] 🏋️‍♂️Squats are back! Was a bit nervous about this session. I'm not that confident squatting at home with my slightly rickety stands, no safety bars and metal weight plates over a wooden floor. But @strengthcoach_london had judged the weights well and like deadlifts earlier in the week these were challenging but manageable. 🏋️‍♂️Excuse the arse heavy camera angle - limited options for filming these in my home gym space. There's work to do in keeping my back more upright but can we take a moment to appreciate the depth I'm hitting here? Don't think I've ever got so low, especially with the front squats. 🏋️‍♂️Got a new plate holder to keep things tidy and create more space to train in. Next I need a fan - it's very hot and sweaty in there! #strong #strength #squats #mobility

[LOCKDOWN LESSONS] 🤔Lockdown has given me time to finally realise that if I want to play with the heavy weights then I need to pay attention to how my body moves without them 🤔Imagine being able to carry a 200kg yoke on your back and squat 110kg but not be able to do a bodyweight lunge. Yep, that was me. I've been storing up trouble for years frankly, ignoring some of my basic mobility issues because "I was lifting heavy so surely they couldn't be an issue?" Wrong. 🧘I'm so glad I've had the time to address some of the basic issues with my movement patterns and never again will I go back to only lifting heavy. 🧘My week now has a significant mobility focus and I intend to keep it that way, even when the gyms re-open. Today's session included deep split squats, cross arm overhead squats and single leg deadlifts. Still work to do on all these but they are looking so much better than they were. 🧘At the age of 46 I can finally sit comfortably cross legged. Still a bit of work to do to be comfortable sitting on my knees, but so much better than it was.

[BACK!] 🔹After pretty much 4 months I'm back! First session of my new programme from @strengthcoach_london this afternoon after work. Whole body session with an upper body focus. Figuring out how to use my home gym space the best and how to get the best camera angles to film (some of these are not them!) 🔹Must remember shorts, sweaty legs and deadlifts don't mix and yes, I'm deadlifting a towel. Also need to remember to pause the deadlift in the right place 😊 🔹Challenging session after so long away but nicely judged by Dan - tough but manageable. 🔹Now to see how my body reacts. I suspect I'm going to be sore! #strength #strong #strongwoman #lockdownliftingclub

[LOVING LOCKDOWN] ❤️Let's put to one side the fact that there's a global pandemic going on out there. I've woken up this morning feeling very grateful for the last couple of months and the extra time it has given me. ❤️I've been able to spend time, several times a day on improving my mobility and working on rehab. To the point where this afternoon I'll be doing my first session from my new programme with @strengthcoach_london ❤️I have spent more time outdoors in the sun than I would have done if I was working in the office. Daily walks along the river are now part of my routine. ❤️I have found @cbnutrition_ who is coaching me to move away from calorie and macro tracking to a more sustainable way of dieting. It's 3 weeks in and I don't think I've ever felt so happy about my food. I'm eating loads of healthy things, feeling totally satisfied and able to have more flexibility at the weekends to enjoy a glass of wine or three. ❤️We've finally got round to converting our balcony into somewhere I want to spend time. A new outdoor sofa has made it so much more comfortable than it was and I'm really enjoying sitting out in the fresh air. Of course there are things that I miss. I can't wait for the pubs and restaurants to open, nor the gyms. I want to see people in person rather than on a screen. I want to be able to travel. But overall I think I'll look back on this time as being good for me, giving me the opportunity to slow down a bit and make some changes that will be of long term benefit. #lockdown2020 #lockdown #coronavirus #grateful #gratitude
